Just listened to perceptive talk by Tim Keller from the recent Gospel Coalition conference. In it he highlights the various idols of today and how to combat them.
Just ask yourself:
- What do I feel I really can't do without?
- The loss of what would make me feel that life is really not worth living?
- What do I ultimately trust for help through life?
- What am I most passionate about?
Whatever your answers are, are likely to be your idols. And like the Thessalonians, we must "turn from idols to the true and living God."
